Bunyola lies at the foot of the Tramuntana, around 20 minutes north of Palma and directly on the railway line to Sóller. The village is surrounded by olive groves and holm oak woods and stays quiet despite its proximity to the capital. The municipality also takes in Orient, one of the smallest villages in Mallorca, and the starting point of many mountain paths. If you want a seasonal rental with a mountain view but need Palma daily, Bunyola is the most practical combination in the whole Tramuntana.
Daily life and getting around
Bunyola has a supermarket, bakers, doctors and a school. For larger shopping you drive to Palma or Santa Maria, both under 20 minutes.
The station is on the Palma–Sóller line; Palma is around 25 minutes by train or 20 by car on the Ma-11.
Who rents here, and winter
People who want to see mountains but be in Palma daily. Bunyola is the only Tramuntana municipality with a usable rail link.
The village is inhabited all year and barely changes in winter. Mountain paths start at the edge of the village and are at their best from October to April.
