Son Vida lies on the hills above Palma and is regarded as the most exclusive residential area on Mallorca. The history of the estate reaches back to the Middle Ages; today it is defined by luxurious villas, renowned golf courses and expansive green spaces. Thanks to its elevated position, many properties enjoy impressive views over the bay of Palma. Its controlled access, high level of privacy and closeness to the city make Son Vida one of the most coveted addresses on the island.
Daily life and getting around
Son Vida is a villa estate on the hills north-west of Palma, with two golf courses and plenty of greenery. There are no shops within the estate — for anything everyday you drive into Palma or nearby Son Rapinya, five to ten minutes either way.
The centre is about 15 minutes by car. Public transport is thin. Without a car, Son Vida is not a realistic place to live, not even for a few months.
Who rents here, and what to know
Families with a car and people who want space, a garden and quiet. Supply is mostly houses rather than flats, and the price level sits at the top end of the island.
Bear in mind: the seclusion is the point, but it also means children cannot walk to the baker alone and every appointment is a drive. For a stay without a car this is the wrong address.
