Artà lies in the north-east of Mallorca, around 70 minutes from Palma, on the slopes below the Sant Salvador pilgrimage church with its fortress wall. The town has one of the liveliest weekly markets on the island on Tuesdays and an arts scene that sets it apart from its neighbours. The municipality includes the Colònia de Sant Pere and much of the Llevant nature park. For a seasonal rental, Artà is an address for anyone who wants to be far from the bustle and takes a car for granted.
Daily life and getting around
Artà has supermarkets, doctors, schools and, in the Tuesday market, one of the liveliest on the island. The centre sits on the slope below the pilgrimage church and is easily walkable.
Palma is around 70 minutes, the airport about 65. The coast at Canyamel or the Colònia de Sant Pere is ten to fifteen minutes away. Nothing works here without a car.

People who want to be far from the bustle. Artà has an unusually active art and music scene for a town of its size.
The town stays fully alive in winter. The Llevant nature park begins on the doorstep and is the best walking country in the east from October to April.
