Living in Manacor

With around 45,000 inhabitants, Manacor is Mallorca's second city and anything but tourist-shaped. It is known for furniture workshops, pearl manufacture and as the birthplace of Rafael Nadal. There is a hospital, secondary schools and a station with a direct line to Palma — around 50 minutes. The coast at Porto Cristo and the Drach caves is twelve kilometres away. For a seasonal rental, Manacor offers more floor space for the money than the coastal resorts, and daily life that carries on unchanged through winter.

Daily life and getting around

Manacor is a proper town: a hospital, secondary schools, supermarkets, specialists and the Monday market. For daily life you never need to drive anywhere.

The train to Palma takes around 50 minutes and runs hourly — the only rail link in the east. The coast at Porto Cristo is twelve kilometres away, the airport about 45 minutes.

Who rents here, and winter

People after space for their money who do not need a sea view. Manacor is the cheapest of the larger addresses in the east and the most practical for families with school-age children.

Winter changes almost nothing here, because the town does not live off tourism. What you do not get is an international crowd — Manacor is more Mallorcan than the coastal resorts.
